1964: A History of Alaska Patrol (ALPAT) Aviation Support

This article was written to honor ALASKA PATROL aviation support crews on the 60th Anniversary of ALASKA PATROL that was established on September 4, 1964. There is little to no reference material available on this topic, hence, much of the content here was accumulated via phone interviews, aviator logbooks reviews, emails and social media discussions. The problem with first person accounts and memories is that rather than recording experiences flawlessly, memories are susceptible to a variety of errors, biases and fading. This is not a perfect document, but rather a culmination of a year of research that I firmly believe is the 90-95% solution – that now requires critical review and audience participation to perfect. Please take a read, consult the endnote sources – and if you believe there is a mistake, a gap or amplifying information that will improve the article, please contact me and help me improve the product.
