1976 – 200 Mile Fishing Zone Established by Public Law 94-265: The Coast Guard Was Given the Responsibility for Enforcement

Public Law 94-265, also known as the Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act, established a 200-mile fishery conservation zone, effective March 1, 1977.
